TVS the Chennai based two wheeler manufacturer has added some oomph to its brand image by roping in Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma as the brand ambassador for its Scooty range of scooters. TVS in its statement has said that Anushka's signing as its brand ambassador was aimed to strengthen its brand image among the youth.
TVS joins its competitors Hero and Mahindra Two Wheelers who have already hired Bollywood actresses as their brand ambassadors. The Scooty is still one of the most preferred scooters among college going girls and Anushka's presence will add more glitz to the brand.
Speaking about TVS's new brand ambassador, Mr. H S Goindi, the president of TVS Motor Company said: "Anushka Sharma was an immediate choice for the TVS Scooty brand. She is well known for being spunky with her distinctive style and is an icon for young girls in India. She is seen by young women as one who is living her goals of being vivacious, independent and successful. We are confident that this association will further enhance the popular TVS Scooty Brand. "
TVS has also stated that signing Anushka Sharma was a natural choice as the actress had already done an ad campaign for the company in 2005. Anushka also recalled here association with TVS by stating: "It's almost like 'homecoming' for me. As a young woman I know how important independence and mobility is to me. TVS Scooty has always understood young women of India and it feels great that I now have an opportunity to be a part of the rich legacy of a brand such as TVS Scooty."
TVS has seen intense competition from rivals in recent months and sales of its flagship scooter has reduced when compared to its competitors. Even its motorcycle sales have not been to the mark. TVS has also signed Indian cricketer Virat Kohli as its brand ambassador for its sports motorcycles.
