Yamaha is all set to ignite the Indian scooter market with its new 125cc scooter named Ray. The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has brought four test vehicles to a race track in Chennai to conduct track testing. The track testing is good news for Yamaha fans as this means the Ray scooter is well on its way to an Indian launch.
Yamaha had unveiled the Ray in January at the Indian Auto Expo with its brand ambassador John Abraham posing on it. The scooter is expected to be aimed at women and hence will be available in attractive and striking colours.
Two wheeler manufacturers usually test the motorcycles in Chennai as the hot weather conditions and the track offers the ideal Indian road conditions. The 125cc Ray is an important model for Yamaha as it heralds its entry to the growing scooter segment in India.
Yamaha had earlier stated that it will launch an entire range of scooters in India. The first of them being the Ray. Yamaha had also displayed its Xeon 125, Fino and Mio scooters at the Auto Expo which caught many eyeballs.
The hot selling 125cc scooters in India are the Suzuki Access followed by the Mahindra Duro and the Suzuki Swish.
