A Peek Into Audi India Brand Ambassador's Car Collection

By Irwin

Audi, as we all know made it India recently and took over the luxury car market. Soon, the battle became intense between Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury car space, and Mercedes managed to lead the market, which it currently does.

That does not rule out the fact that Audi does make good cars, and has been promoting the brand extensively with Virat Kohli, the German carmaker's brand ambassador in India. Here is a look at the Audi line-up that Kohli has, along with a car that he aspires to own some day and cars that he won playing cricket.

1. Renault Duster

Let's get the non-Audi cars out of the way first. Kohli won the Duster back in 2012 when he was awarded as the ‘Man Of The Series', playing against Sri Lanka. The model he won was a 110PS version, which is powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

2. Toyota Fortuner

Toyota appointed Virat Kohli as the company's brand ambassador back in 2012, and during this period, Kohli owned a Fortuner All-Wheel Drive variant. Not really sure how much the cricketer uses the SUV, but Toyota did sell good numbers of the Fortuner in India, and still continues to do so. The Fortuner is powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine that produces 169bhp and 343Nm of torque.

Taking a look at the Audi line-up now, the first car we see is the Audi S6, the performance version of the A6 sedan. The S6 is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 420bhp and 549Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and power is sent to a permanent all-wheel drive system. Also, the Audi S6 features a cylinder-deactivation system, that shuts down cylinders while driving to improve the car's mileage.

The Audi A8 is the company's flagship sedan and the Kohli owns the Long-wheel base version of the car. The cricketer bought the car in November 2015 and shelled out quite a bit of money, since he owns the version that comes powered by a 6.3-litre W12 engine, that produces 494bhp and 625Nm of torque, or making it simple, the top of the line petrol variant. The A8-L is available to chose from 100 exterior shades, 23 interior shades, and 12 wood insert options.

If you were wondering how come he does not own a two-seater sports car, the answer is he does. He did own a R8, but according to a few sources, sold it to get something better. The R8 comes with a V10 engine, while the older version had a V8. The engines produce 518 and 424bhp respectively.

The Aston Martin DBS is not among the cars Kohli owns, but is a dream car to the cricketer. He claims that he drove the car and it feels really good. Also, who wouldn't want to own a car that has been driven by Bond, James Bond himself?
