5 Famous Vintage Car Shows Around The World
Vintage and classic car rallies often draw big crowds, and why not? These cars represent so much history and culture, and were styled with passion and flamboyance of designers at the time. So much so, that enthusiasts say vintage cars have ‘soul'—not a word usually associated with today's cars and their mass-produced designs.
Let's take a look at some famous vintage car shows around the world, and something very special happening soon in India too.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
This is probably the world's most famous and prestigious vintage and classic car show, drawing over 15,000 visitors annually to Monterey, California, every year. Its tradition goes back to the 17th century, when aristocrats used to show off their latest horse-drawn carriages to display their elevated status and wealth. Cars that attend this show are lovingly restored to original condition, with no modifications allowed unless they are original and appropriate for the car model and its year of production.

Motorclassica
This is another world-famous Concours d'Elegance that takes place annually in Melbourne, Australia. Here, several classic cars and motorcycles go on display for 3 days, drawing up to 20,000 visitors to the event. Competitors drive their cars through the streets of Melbourne before landing up at the event premises, so all get a chance to see these rare beauties on the move.

In 2013, the Silverstone Classic Car Show won the prestigious ‘Motorsport Event of the Year' award from the International Historic Motoring Awards (IHMA).

Retromobile
This is an annual classic car show, held in Paris, that is considered to be one of Europe's finest. The event specialises in cars from the 1920s and 1930s, though a hugely popular, recently-introduced division called ‘youngtimers' attracts cars from the 1970s and 1980s. The event will take place this year between February 4 and February 8.
