20 Interesting Cars Showcased During The 2015 New York Auto Show

The 2015 New York Auto Show is currently underway and car manufacturers from around the world have again been on their toes to make their best impression.

Many carmakers have used this auto show taking place in the big apple to introduce cars and concepts and have also used this as a base to debut cars in the North American shores after they made their world debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

So here is a quick look at 20 interesting cars that have been showcased at the 2015 New York Auto Show:

1. Ford Focus RS:

This American car brand has been designed in Germany. The car features a turbocharged engine that produces 330 bhp, four-wheel drive and a manual 6-speed gearbox!

The Ford GT also made its presence at the New York Auto Show. The USD 400,000 costing sports car already made its first North American debut during the Detroit Auto Show.

The Dodge Challenger T/A Concept, that channels the spirit of racing driver Sam Posey's original number 77 Challenger T/A is present here too. The Lemon Yellow and matte black car features a 6.4-litre, Hemi V8 engine that delivers power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission.

The stunning Italian beauty, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider was showcased at the big apple too! This convertible can do a 0 to 62 mph sprint in 4.5 seconds and can sprint all the way up to a top speed of over 155 mph.

Design heavily influenced by the 2000GT, Celica, Supra and the FT-86, Toyota claim that the FT-1 concept is a pure performance, track-focused sports car. The car was designed by CALTY Design Research, Toyota's North American Design branch.

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-S was a big crowd attraction. With a top speed of 310 km/h, the car is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin turbo V8 engine that produces 503 hp and 650 Nm of torque. The GT-S features an electronically controlled mechanical limited-slip differential.

The McLaren 570 S arrived at the North American shores with a price tag of USD 184,900. The car weighs just 1,313 kg and has a power-to-weight figure of 434 PS per ton.

The bright green Civic Concept was displayed at the New York Auto Show. When the car goes on sale, it will have 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with a manual or an automatic gearbox. Honda has also promised the launch of the Civic Type R in North America.

The Aston Martin Vulcan, the latest hypercar from the British carmaker made its North American debut in New York. The 800-plus-horsepower car with a 7.0-litre, V12 petrol engine made its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Ford showed the world a glimpse of its upcoming luxury car, the Lincoln Continental Concept. This car from Ford's upmarket car brand is targeted to take on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the Cadillac CT6.

Porsche believes that the engine is your music with the Boxster Spyder. The car is stripped off its radio and air conditioner as standard equipment, but offers it at no extra price. The car is offered with a manual gearbox only.

American carmaker Cadillac took the cover off the CT6 during the New York Auto Show. This flagship model will be available with a choice of three different engines, a turbocharged, 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine producing 265 hp, a 3.6-litre V6 that produces around 335 hp and a twin-turbo, 3.0-litre V6 that churns out 400 hp.

McLaren had an answer to the Aston Martin Vulcan in the form of the P1 GTR. The McLaren P1 GTR track-only car made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show. The P1 GTR produces 985 bhp, with the help of a V8 internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

Priced at USD 199,495 and also the flagship offering by Land Rover, the luxury SUV will go on sale this year. Using the New York Auto Show to make its global debut, the Range Rover SVA will be the most powerful SUV from Land Rover, with a power output of 550 horsepower generated by a 5.0-litre, V8, supercharged engine.

Speaking of SUVs, German carmaker Mercedes-Benz unveiled the GLE 63 AMG. The SUV is in skin, an updated and face lifted version of the ML. The GLE 63 AMG with a 5.5-litre, twin-turbo, V8 producing 550 hp sits at the top of the range.

Another SUV that was showcased during the New York Auto Show was the Volvo XC90. What makes it special? Well, the plug-in hybrid version is offered with either a supercharged or a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine, along with electric motors that generate 400 horsepower.

Muscle cars were part of the New York Auto Show as well and what better place to showcase the all American Shelby GT350 R.

The Buick Avenir Concept that was featured during the New York Auto Show boasts a few semi-autonomous features like destination programming from social media review sites like Yelp, through Buick's Intellilink platform, and also lets the driver activate home technology, with the ability to remotely open or close the garage.

Debuted at the New York Auto Show, the Nissan Maxima keeps an eye out for drowsy drivers with its Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system as a part of its safety package. The car monitors the driver's behavior and alerts him if he seems drowsy or inattentive.

Luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce showcased its one-off Wraith, inspired by the movie ‘And the World Stood Still'. The car's silver screen is reflected through a unique two-tone Silver and Jubilee Silver paint scheme, a solid-silver hand-cast Spirit of Ecstasy and comes with a twin-turbo, V12 powerhouse that generates 624 bhp.
