Tusker H.O.G. Chapter: Fuelling A Passion For Harleys
Pushrod V-twin engines, high air-flow boxes, customised paint, open exhausts pipes, and chrome is not what Harley-Davidson is all about. There's more to the iconic two-wheeler than they let on. Enter - Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.)
Meet the Tusker H.O.G., a local chapter sponsored by Tusker Harley-Davidson, an authorised dealership in Bangalore, which is owned and operated by Srinivas Reddy (Srini), and a troop of high-adrenaline, tattooed Harley owners from Bangalore.
Before we get into how these fashionable cruisers are changing the motorcycling scene in Bangalore, let's learn a little bit about the H.O.G. chapters.
What are Chapters?
Local chapters, such as the Tusker H.O.G. allow people who share a passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles to come together. When joining a local chapter, you'll always have plenty of opportunities to meet with friends, support worthy causes, and most importantly, ride like the wind!
Over the weekend, I had the good fortune to spend some time with the Tusker H.O.G. Chapter. Being an avid motorcyclist myself, I wasn't sure what to expect from this group.
A few minutes in, the exclusivity and sheer shared excitement was very apparent. The difference here, is the enthusiasm, passion, togetherness, and sense of involvement one feels.
From first-aid sessions to owning and riding a Harley-Davidson, these were shared as life lessons that is imperative for any mortorcycle owner. Most importantly, the manner in which we were educated was simple and yet engaging. Here are a few takeaways from our first chapter with Tusker H.O.G. Bangalore.
Dr. Dinakar presented an engaging session on Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Riders and their families were educated on lifesaving techniques that are useful during several kinds of emergencies including heart attacks or near drowning incidents, where someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped.
Motorcycle accidents, though not necessarily more frequent than other types of accidents, are more likely to result in serious injury or death. Dr. Dinakar also touched upon various topics including how-to deal with fractures, wounds, lacerations, bandaging, and the dos and don'ts of first-aid.
The Verdict:
The weekend jaunt with Tusker H.O.G. Chapter was grand, effective and had an absorbing effect. How this group of 350 plus riders fuelled their passion for Harleys and tied in safety measures as an absolute disclaimer, was very impressive.
If I ever end up buying a Harley someday, without a doubt, I would jump at the privilege to be part of this family. Are you a soon to be Harley owner? Connect with your area listed chapters to experience what I just have.
