Top 10 Worst Selling Cars Under 15 Lakhs During 2016 First Quarter
Selling cars is a gamble. Some sell exceptionally well while some sell exceptionally low. Carmakers design cars for the masses in India and only a few models click.
It takes a lot to knock off a few car models from the best selling list since they have been there for a long time. Only in rare instances a new model makes it to that list.
Some models on the other hand are designed to attract masses, but they fail miserably to do so and sell in very less numbers. That is a huge blow to the company.
So, here is a list of the top 10 worst selling cars under INR 15 lakh in India during the first quarter of the financial year of 2016:
10. Fiat Avventura:
At number ten in our list comes the crossover from Fiat, the Avventura. The Avventura has sold 591 units during the first quarter of the financial year of 2016.
9. Nissan Sunny:
The CAAAR that takes the ninth spot is the Nissan Sunny. This was a car that was made to sell in decent numbers, but is dwindling at the bottom of the worst selling cars list. During the first quarter, it has managed to sell just 549 units in India.
8. Renault Pulse:
The number eight spot goes to the Renault Pulse. Again, a hatch that was designed to sell in good numbers that failed. The car managed to sell just 497 units. That is pretty sad sales for a hatch.
7. Fiat Linea:
The Fiat Linea comes in at seven, having sold only 411 units. Compared to a year ago during the same time, the Linea has seen a drop in sales of 38 percent. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, that uses the same diesel engine as the Linea is currently the best selling car in India!
6. Renault Scala:
At number six is Renault's version of the CAAAR—the Renault Scala. It sold a mere 274 units, half of what the Sunny sold.
5. Chevrolet Spark:
Having sold just 252 units, the Chevrolet Spark takes the fifth spot in our list. This car was supposed to sell in good numbers and be on the top 10 selling cars list, but reality got it here.
4. Ford Fiesta Classic:
Looking at how the Ecosport sells, it is quite a shame to see the Fiesta Classic on this list. Only 236 units have been sold this quarter.
3. Chevrolet Cruze:
In spite of being called the Diesel Rocket and being equipped with a really powerful diesel engine, the Cruze is on the slow selling list. The Cruze has sold just 207 units.
2. New Ford Fiesta:
The new Ford Fiesta is the second worst selling car in India. It looks like Ford took a car that was already selling in low numbers and made it look even worse with all the re styling. It has sold just 55 units.
1. Renault Fluence:
The worst selling car in India is the Renault Fluence. Only 34 units have been sold. That is quite literally how many cars Maruti Suzuki sell in a day!
