Deutsche Luftschiffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft or DELAG was the world's first airline to use an aircraft for revenue purpose. This German company was founded in 1906. Over the years, there have been quite a lot of airlines throughout the world.

Connecting almost every city in the world, travel has become much faster and easier. All this comes at a cost though. Airfare is expensive, but not with all airlines, fortunately.

Based on the World Airline Survey and feedback from respondents representing 105 different nationalities, let's take a look at 10 of the cheapest airlines out there that make a budget holiday possible. The survey covered more than 245 airlines, from the largest international carriers to the smaller domestic airlines.

Get Outta Here! Scoot! Yep. Thats what they say. In our countdown of budget flights, this Singapore-based airline was placed in 10th position. The airline was founded in November 2011 and commenced operations in June 2012. They have a fleet of 6 aircrafts and have services to 12 destinations.

At number nine is another Singapore-based company called Jetstar Asia Airways Pte Ltd. The company was founded in the year 2004. The fleet has 18 planes and offer services to 21 destinations.

At number 8 is A Breath of Fresh Airline - Virgin America. This American based airline was founded in 2004. The company has 53 planes and offer their low budget services to 23 destinations.

With a fleet size of 120 planes and offering services to 89 destinations, the Canada based company is a public company. This low cost carrier which started in 1996, is presently the second largest in Canada. Owners Care is what they say with over 10,000 employees working for them.

"Europe by EasyJet", "business by EasyJet", "This is Generation easyJet". As said, they have gained the 6th place. Based in London, they have 202 planes in their fleet and fly to 134 different destinations. Founded in 1995, this is the second largest low cost carrier in Europe.

At number five is the Indian based company Indigo. Founded in 2006, 78 new Airbus A320 aircrafts make up this company's fleet and connect 36 destinations. The flight offers only economy class and to keep costs low, they do not serve complimentary meals. They do not have in flight entertainment as well.

This a a franchise of the worlds best low budget airline company.

Now Everyone Can Fly is the tagline for the world's best low budget airline, AirAsia. Founded in the year 1993 in Malaysia, its fleet is made up of 169 aircrafts, connecting 88 destinations. All their planes are Airbus A320s. The company operates with the world's lowest unit cost of US$0.023 per available seat kilometres (ASK) and a passenger breakeven load factor of 52%. They have also hedged 100% of their fuel requirements for the next three years.
