10. BMW Group
This German brand was the biggest car maker in the world in 2013. With brands like Mini and Rolls-Royce brands in its group, they sold 1.9 million vehicles in 2012. Selling 350,000 units of the 3 Series alone, the sedan was the best seller of 2013.
9. PSA Peugeot Citroen
While many car manufacturers saw a rise in sales in 2013, the French brand saw a decline. The slowly recovering European market forced the Peugeot to look into foreign markets. The company saw a 26 percent rise in the Chinese market alone.
8. Honda Motor
At number 8 is the Japanese car maker Honda. They had a global sales rise of over 7 percent, selling more than 4 million cars and trucks. The Honda CR-V is the company's best seller, and their biggest market is the US.
7. Fiat-Chrysler
The merger of the Italian brand Fiat and American brand Chrysler sold over 4.3 million cars and buses in 2013. Much of these numbers came from Chrysler's growth of 14 percent in the US. Chrysler sold 2.6 million vehicles while Fiat sold 1.7 million globally.
6. Ford Motor
At number six the is American giant Ford. With sales of more than 6.3 million cars and trucks worldwide in 2013, North America is their biggest market. The F Series pickup is the biggest selling vehicle for them in the US and Canada.
5. Hyundai-Kia
Number five is the Korean manufacturer Hyundai-Kia. In spite of having the slowest sales growth in 2003, Hyundai has sold more than 7.5 million vehicles worldwide in 2013 and are looking at selling 8 million in 2014. The compact Elantra/Avanti was their best seller, selling more than 866,000 units.
4. Nissan-Renault Group
This French Japanese alliance sold 8.2 million vehicles in 2013. Nissan alone sold 5.1 million vehicles worldwide; China was their biggest market for the Japanese brand selling 1.2 million vehicles in 2013.
3. Volkswagen Group
At number three is the German brand, the Volkswagen Group. The company sold 9.7 million vehicles in 2013. The Volkswagen Group includes brands like Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini and Porsche. China being the biggest market, they sold 3.2 million units.
2. General Motors
The American brand takes the second place selling 9.71 million vehicles worldwide. Their biggest selling brand is Chevrolet - just under 5 million vehicles were sold. In 2013, the Chevrolet Cruze sold more than 729,000 units.
1. Toyota Motor
At number one, the largest automaker in the world is Toyota. They were the biggest automaker in 2011, and now the Japanese car maker takes back the number one spot again. Selling over 9.98 million units worldwide, the Corolla is Toyota's best selling model worldwide.
