Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are all set to invade a small screen near your (if those screens have Amazon Prime) with their latest show the Grand Tour.
Amazon showed off some footage from the latest escapade by the trio of British motormouths whose antics have earned them millions of fans around the world. The Grand Tour will see the trio return together for the first time since Clarkson was fired by the BBC in March, for punching a producer.
The footage was apparently received quite well by the delegates at the Edinburgh Television Festival. In his report, Radio Times journalist Jonathan Holmes wrote "From this short tease, The Grand Tour looks like the biggest, brashest, loudest, most extreme version of Top Gear imaginable."
In a freewheeling interview, the show's executive producer Andy Wilman, shared a few details about the upcoming show. Here's what he revealed,
- Most of the filming is done - Wilman stated that 90 percent of the filming is done, with episode 2 (filmed in South Africa in the big Grand Tour tent) already in the bag. Only a few scripted scenes from wherever the Tent goes are left to film.
- Launch Date Undecided - Despite most of the filming being over, Wilman revealed that Amazon had not yet decided on the exact date the show will go on air.
- Contracts And Shows - Clarkson, Hammond and May along with the rest of the Grand Tour team are contracted by Amazon for three years with 12 shows arriving every year.
- 4K - The Grand Tour will be filmed in Ultra HD or 4K, which means you'll be able to see every detail about Clarkson's enormous paunch, Hammond's whitened teeth and May's striped jumpers and flowery shirts.
