Violated Traffic? Now Plant A Tree – New Rule In Telangana
oi-Rajkamal
By Rajkamal
The state of Telangana has come up with a very interesting rule for traffic violators - plant a tree every time you violate traffic. That is of course after you have paid the fine.
The rule has been enforced for the past three weeks and the idea was put forward by Mahbubnagar SP Rema Rajeshwari.
According to her, this is community service by offenders, and this will also help the state achieve its goal of having 33 percent tree cover from the present 24 percent.
So far, the government has caught 2,765 violators who were made to plant trees and is aiming to plant 1 million trees across the state.
We are hoping other states follow the same rule soon since few cities that were once known for its lush greenery are not known for that anymore.
