SpaceX Unmanned Mission By Elon Musk Goes To Mars By 2018
Elon Musk confirms that his SpaceX mission will be able to send an unmanned spaceship to Mars by 2018. This is the biggest and boldest claim to be made by a private space travel company. The news was confirmed via Elon Musk's Twitter account on April 27, 2016.
SpaceX is not a Government project and is funded by several smart and rich individuals. Elon Musk is the CEO and founder of SpaceX which is situated in Hawthorne, California, United States. The Red Dragon spaceship will make its debut by going to Mars in 2018.
Currently, it takes roughly eight months for a rocket to reach Mars. The Red Dragon is expecting to reduce the travel time considerably. Musk also confirmed that his Red Dragon spaceship will have space similar to that of a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV).
During April 2016, SpaceX made an amazing breakthrough in space flight technology. They managed to land a reusable rocket on a floating platform, which is controlled by computers and not humans. This system could lower space travel costs and make it easier and safer to send human beings into space.
