Jon Olsson Drifts On A 600 Horsepower Prototype Race Car On Snow
Watching a car drift on tarmac is fun, but the fun doubles when tarmac is replaced with snow and the car is a 600-horsepower Prototype racecar. Jon Olsson, a professional freeskier, currently on a break due to an injury, decided he would go skiing in a car instead, which resulted in this awesome video, which is our Facebook video of the day.
The car, a Le Mans Prototype look alike, is actually road legal and is in fact, owned by Olsson himself. Called the Rebellion R2k, the car was commissioned by Olsson to participate in last year's Gumball 3000 rally.
The car is based off an Ultima GTR, is fitted with an Audi R8 V10 engine, weighs just about 1000 kg and costs a cool €500,000 (INR 4.18 crore).
Olsson said that he initially intended to drive an Audi RS 6 up the snow covered hill in Storlien, Sweden, but decided on his custom road-legal race car because it would be more challenging and more fun. The only modification he did to the Rebellion R2k was fit it with 315 wide winter tires.
"This crazy idea turned out to be one of the most exciting mornings that I have ever had," Olsson said. "Pushing full gas while sliding sideways on the top of an empty mountain while the sun is just dipping over the horizon is just hard to beat."
Maybe Le Mans organisers should think about shifting the race to winter resorts from now on. Watch the amazing video video below.
