Bonhams Selling Coffee Table Made From Rolls-Royce V8 Engine Block

By Dennis

British Auction House Bonhams is offering one of the craziest coffee tables around — Made from a Rolls-Royce 6.75-litre V8 — up for auction.

Offered as part of Collector's Motor Cars, Motorcycles and Automobilia auction, the sacrilegious Roller engine block coffee table will be available for bidders on December 10 and is expected to fetch £800 – £1,000.

The engine in question is the one of the old English L Series style 'Six and Three Quarter-litre' V8 engines used on Rolls-Royce cars prior to their purchase by BMW in 1998 and produced at the factory in Crewe.

The engine has been stripped down with the studs removed, undergone a three stage chemical cleaning to remove all the old engine oil and then shot blasted and powder coated in chrome to make it look rather shiny and clean. A Rolls-Royce Badge has been added and the engine has been raised on table legs.

The British standard certified glass table top has been attached to it with four thumb bolts that go into into specially machined mounting points. And to make the old engine shine a bit more, white LED lights have been fitted (batteries not included).
