Range Rover Sport SVR Breaks Nurburgring Record
SUVs are not known for going fast, however, manufacturers have steadily been changing this notion. Land Rover has created the fastest production Range Rover, the Sport SVR. There is no better place than the Nurburgring to test a machine that claims to be fast.

The Range Rover Sport SVR now holds the record for the fastest production SUV around the Nurburgring. It achieved the feat in an impressive eight minutes and 14 seconds. The SUV boasts of a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged engine. The engineers have extracted 542 horsepower from the SUV's engine.

Mike Cross, Chief Engineer Vehicle Integrity, spoke about the record, "The Nurburgring is a benchmark for vehicle development and testing, and cars become stronger, more durable and faster over its 13 miles and 70-plus corners. We wanted to see whether an SUV could behave like a performance car in this challenging environment."
