Everybody dreams of owning a car that offers luxury as good as the best hotel in the world. One such car that does offer something that good is a Bentley. Just owning one is quite good, but what if you owned the same car as the Queen of England?
Queen Elizabeth II's car, the Bentley is up for auction and this is what you need to know about the car.
The particular model we are speaking about is the Bentley Mulsanne, that was put into service in the year 2012 and retired in the year 2014.
During its service, the car ran a total of just under 6,000 miles or 9,656 kilometers. The Bentley was used over a period of two years by the Queen to visit 10 Downing Street for her first Cabinet meeting and during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Bramley Motors has currently put the car on sale at its showroom near Guildford in Surrey. The car is listed under the ex-Royal Household listings.
One thing the new buyer should do is reset the navigation system of the car, since the home address on it is still Windsor, Berkshire, which is the residence of the British Royal Family.
The Queen's Bentley is currently owned by Simon Gregg, a car collector, who acquired it after it was put out of commission in 2014. He told the Daily Mail: "This was a real find for two reasons - firstly, cars used by the Queen rarely come to the market, and also I am a huge fan of her."
The Queen also has two other purpose-built state limousines. The first car was given to Queen Elizabeth by Bentley in 2002 on her Golden Jubilee. The Queen was so impressed by the car that she ordered a second one.
All the state cars owned by the Queen are armoured. They can withstand explosives and the tyres are reinforced with Kevlar. They are also converted to run on biofuel, which was done back in 2009.
The car is powered by a 6.75-litre V8 engine. The car rides on 20-inch alloy wheels and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.1 seconds and go on till it reaches a top speed of 296km/h, which is twice the UK motorway speed limit.
Creature comforts include leather interior and cruise control.
What makes this car really special is that in spite of the queen owning more than 50 cars, very rarely do cars get auctioned.
So what is the asking price for such a car at an auction? The Bentley comes with a price tag of 200,000 pounds or Rs. 1.89 crore.
Queen Elizabeth also happens to be the first person to own Bentley's latest SUV, the Bentayga, which boasts itself as the world's fastest SUV.
The Bentley Bentayga SUV is powered by a 6.0-litre W12 engine that develops 600bhp and 900Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 301km/h.
The Bentayga, being the first to be delivered to the Queen or anybody in the world will be used for ‘hunting expeditions' according to Bentley's US Chief Michael Winkler, in the Queen's property in Scotland.
