Polaris Experience Zone: A Day Out With The Quads
The Polaris Experience Zone (PEZ) is a place where people get to ride and experience Polaris ATVs and off-roaders. The PEZs are spread across India and one such venue is Dirt mania, Bangalore. Journalists from every publication around were invited to test ride the Polaris range of vehicles.
Dirt Mania in Bangalore has a set track (0.5km long) for amateurs. For the more experienced, you can pick trails that are 7, 10, or 15km long.
Once at the venue, we set off on the 15km trail on two Hawkeye quads (300cc & 400cc). Having not ridden quads for a long time, we quickly brushed up our rusty skills with the Phoenix 200 on the track.
The ride started towards the afternoon after a heavy meal and our lead vehicle was the Polaris RZR 800. The ride was through some difficult terrain and we tackled sand, mud, water, and big boulders. The Polaris ATVs handled all these obstacles extremely well.
The 300cc quad had loads of torque while still being nimble at the same time. The 400cc Hawkeye had much more power, but what it lacked was the 300's agility. Both the quads were equipped with automatic transmission and combined braking system. The quads also had a high and low ratio to chose from.
The quads are tuned for torque, rather than pure horsepower. One major aspect to keep in mind while riding quads is that they are a mix of riding a two-wheeler and driving a four-wheeler. They have a handlebar, but steer like how cars do.
The trail eventually led us to a narrow and steep dirt trail with boulders and tree stubs sticking out. The path looked like it could be done only on a dirt bike, but the Polaris ATVs had no problem going up a slope that looked impossible to do. Once on top, we were treated to a view worth the hard ride.
The way back down the hill was no issue as well. The ATVs glided over the boulders, the suspension taking all the credit. The front suspension had 20.8cm travel while the rear had 24.1cm travel. Seating was comfortable and the Combi-brake system proved to be very reliable and efficient.
On the whole, riding the Polaris quads was a very much needed exercise, and for those looking for a bit of adventure or action during the weekend, the Polaris Experience Zone is highly recommended over the Go-Kart zones.About Dirt Mania
About Dirt Mania
Dirt Mania is jointly owned by Raj and Jai. Raj always wanted to do something on his own and since motorsports was his passion, he came up with the idea of starting a Polaris Experience Zone, since ATVs are not popular in India.
