The Most Epic Road Trip On A KTM 390 Duke — From India To The Isle Of Man
Riding from India to the Isle of Man, a KTM Duke 390 rider has completed a journey many of us dream of.
A KTM owner by the name of Rohit Upadhyay recently completed the ride many riders simply dream of by travelling from India to the Mecca of Motorcycle racing, the Isle Of Man aboard his trusty motorcycle.
Helping him on his way to the infamous isle from India was the KTM 390 Duke. While it may not be the ride of choice for many touring riders, the Duke 390 propelled Biru forward on his Grand Tour across some of the most dangerous places in the world.
Biru's journey started when he put his trustworthy KTM on a boat to Bandar Abbas in Iran wanting to skip the insanity that is our not so friendly neighbour Pakistan.
It was from the southern Iranian port that Biru started his journey on the KTM as he rode north towards the Turkish border to avoid the war-ravaged countries of Iraq and Syria.
His entry into Turkey though couldn't have come at a more inopportune time. Soldiers attempted to overthrow the Turkish president by staging violent attempted coup d'etat at the same time Biru and his Duke were in the country.
Thankfully for Upadhyay and the Duke, he was able to get out of Turkey without any issue as he headed into the heart of European civilisation, Greece. (He did stop for a selfie, though.)
After stopping and admiring a few Greek ruins a scene mirrored in the country's current economic problems, Biru headed out into the rest of Europe.
The KTM with Biru on it swept through the Albania and Macedonia, the country that gave India Alexander the Great and Saint Teresa.
The KTM and its rider then zipped through Kosovo and stopped to glance at Montenegro's brilliant landscapes before heading for the Croatian port city of Dubrovnik, better known to Game of Thrones fans as King's Landing.
From the real life Game of Thrones set, Biru and the KTM roared through Bosnia & Herzegovina and Slovenia before hitting Italy and the Dolomite mountains.
Instead of heading north via the Swiss Alps, Biru decided to take the long way to the Isle of Man. He visited France, Spain (where he finally thought the food had some flavour again) and Portugal whose capital Lisbon he described as the list topper for European capital for its beauty, history and art.
From Portugal, Biru headed back through Spain and France to the capital of all things European Belgium (he claims he was there for the beer). He then stopped off to meet a friend in the Netherlands before taking the Ferry to Blighty, better know to you and me as the United Kingdom.
After zipping through England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland, Biru and his KTM finally entered the holy of holies, the Isle of Man where they finally cut the revs down and finished their journey.
