As per official reports, the couple were returning home from friend's house at MRC Nagar in Raja Annamalaipuram. Around 3:30 a.m. Ashwin lost control of his BMW and rammed a tree. The impact was so brutal that the car burst into flames and the couple were charred to death. And the dissapointing fact is, the couple celebrated their wedding annieversary the day before, March 17, 2017.

Officials also stated that Ashwin was driving the car above the speed limit which caused the accident. The passersby alerted the Police soon after the crash, but the couple could not be rescued due to intense flames.

A video of the burning car was posted on the social media by eyewitnesses who stated that they were not able to rescue the couple due to intense heat from the flames.

In 2008, Ashwin Sundar signed a deal with German racing team, Ma-Con Motorsport and raced in the German Formula Volkswagen ADAC Championship. He was also the national champion in LGB F4 category in 2012 and 2013.

The accident has happened only days after Chennai Police has seized ten sports cars for racing on public road and arrested one person for allegedly running over the foot of a Police inspector.

This accident is a prime example of what will be the outcome of speeding on public roads. But unfortunately, it took the lives of the couple. So, always follow the speed limits and drive safe on public roads.
