GPS Darts A New Technology Could Prevent The Dangerous High Speed Pursuits
The Arvada Police Department has become the first law enforcement agency in U.S to use GPS darts to track suspect vehicles.
According to the reports, high-speed car pursuits kills more than 1,000 people in the US every year. However, that may change as a company called StarChase has developed a GPS tracking device it claims can prevent such high-speed car chases.
The Arvada Police Department in Colorado U.S. has become the first law enforcement agency in the US to use GPS darts to track suspect vehicles.
The darts has a proprietary adhesive material that prevents suspects from removing the device from the vehicle. According to StarChase company, law enforcement agencies in more than 30 states in the U.S. are using these darts which are fired from police vehicles.
The Arvada Police department which has been using the darts for the past nine months reports an 85 percent success rate of tracking offenders using the darts.
