Autobahn Speed Limits To Be Imposed In Porsche And Mercedes Home State
The traffic minister of the German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Winfried Hermann, wants to impose speed limits on the autobahns.
The minister is a member of the ruling coalition but more importantly, he is a member of the German Green party. His latest proposal is a rather controversial 120km/h speed limit on the autobahns running through the state.
Hermann has stated that the speed limits are a trial and he intends to hold them for four rather long years and only a few sections of the autobahns in the state will be affected.
However, the move has not gone down well with Mercedes, Porsche and Audi's Quattro division all of whom call the state of Baden-Wurttemberg home and often use the autobahns for high speed testing.
This isn't the first time the Green Party has tried to impose a 120km/h speed limit in Germany. They made an attempt to get the speed limit imposed all across Germany in 2013 but failed.
