By Dennis

The original Ford GT 40 was built to beat the Ferrari's at Le Mans. It didn't just beat the Ferraris, it sent the prancing horses packing and the Maranello based team hasn't won at the world's most famous endurance race since Ford took the 1-2-3 in 1966.

Now 50 years later, the blue oval brand is returning to the scene of its greatest triumph with its new Ford GT supercar and it has just one target, sticking it to Ferrari yet again , this time in the GTE Pro class.

To celebrate its return and the reason for its rivalry with the Modena based Ferrari, Ford reveals everything about how and why the rivalry started.
