Ford India has revamped most of its cars for the Indian market. The latest car to have undergone a major make over is the Ford Endeavour SUV. The Endeavour was launched in India for Rs. 24.75 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai), and Ford has big plans for this SUV.
But sadly, the waiting period has disappointed many customers in India, like Ashley Koshy, a resident of Chennai. Ashley runs a five-acre organic farm in Thiropurur, and sells organic milk, paneer, ghee, vegetables, and fruits under the Trader Koshy name.
Trader Koshy has got in touch with DriveSpark regarding the long waiting period, which is 8 months, and shares his views and disappointment on the Ford Endeavour.
Ford India are you listening?
Ashley has always been a four-wheeler enthusiast and his love for automobiles urged him to book a top-of-the-line variant of the Ford Endeavour, which costs approximately Rs. 35 lakh on-road.
Unfortunately, the Ford dealership in Chennai delivered the bad news saying Ashley will have to wait for 8 months until a vehicle is delivered to him.
Disappointed, Ashley looked for the same variant of the Endeavour in different dealerships and most of them confirmed the same.
"Eight months is just too long to wait for a vehicle in the modern world. Vehicles could be phased out, or even out dated in 8 months," laughs Ashley.
Ashley did take a look at alternate vehicles, but nothing even came close. One of the closest rival is the Chevrolet Trailblazer, but that lacks the charm of being a potent off-roader.
So what makes the Ford Endeavour so special? The Trailblazer does have a powerful engine. Let's find out why.
The Ford Endeavour has had a major upgrade in design compared to the older generation model. It has evolved from being a boxy SUV to a new generation vehicle. It sports a muscular, yet sporty look.
Engine, Gearbox & Specifications
- 2.2-litre turbo diesel (158bhp, 385Nm torque)
- 3.2-litre turbo diesel (197bhp, 470Nm torque)
Ford offers manual as well as automatic transmission with both engines, and also there is an option to chose between a two-wheel or a four-wheel drive.
- 2.2-litre turbo diesel: 14.12km/l
- 3.2-litre turbo diesel: 10.91km/l
- Fuel Tank Capacity: 80-litres
Some key features of the new Ford Endeavor are automatic climate control, sunroof, electrically adjustable driver's seat, 10-speaker audio system, powered tailgate, power folding seats, terrain management control, LED lighting, 18-inch wheels, and disc brakes for all four wheels.
Some key safety features on the top end variant of the Ford Endeavour are 7 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System, hill climb and descent control, and traction control.
When taking a look at what the Endeavour has to offer, it is quite clear why a customer would chose the Endeavour. But just the lack of on-time delivery and the really long waiting period is a huge drawback for Ford. This can very well affect the overall sales too.
