E-Cart From Small-Time Madurai Firm Favoured Over Chinese Competition
An entrepreneur from Madurai has just made headlines since his firm has just revealed an electric cart that has been chosen over Chinese competition by Bangalore-based startup.
The startup, called FreshWorld, has been importing Chinese electric cars in the past, but has now placed an order for 20 electric carts from Tejus Motors, the firm from Thirumangalam, Madurai. FreshWorld is a Bangalore-based company that supplies vegetables to customers directly from farms.
Managing partner of Tejus Motors, P Girithar Raja described his vehicles as being fully indigenous with homegrown batteries and chassis moulds.
Speaking at a session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Raja said it was time to ‘prop up green technology' and manufacture vehicles that could immediately operate on Indian roads.
Tejus wants to initiate ‘clean tech' activities by producing electric tractors that it feels will cut transportation costs for farmers.
