The the London Metropolitan Police is conducting an investigation on an alleged accident involving a British Airways(BA) Airbus A320 and a drone above the skies of London.
British Airways Flight BA727 from Geneva to London (Heathrow Airport) was making its final descent into London and was hit by a drone according to the pilot, shortly before it touched down on the runway at 12:38 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.
The Airbus A320 aircraft was carrying 132 passengers and five crew members and was flying at approximately 1,700 ft (580m) above Richmond Park in London when the incident. Drone flights above Royal Parks such as Richmond Park are banned in the United Kingdom due
Thankfully no one on board the filght was injured and and the aircraft was examined by BA engineers after it landed and no damage was found.
No debris or suspects related to the incident have been found and the London Metropolitan Police are appealing for anyone from the general public who saw the suspect(s) or debris in the vicinity of the are to contact them.
This is not the first time that drones have come near planes near Heathrow Airport and other airports across the world.
