The 2016 Dodge Viper ACR (American Club Racer), has set a new record for setting multiple track records. The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has officially recognized that the Dodge Viper ACR has more track records than any other production car — 13 records.
The car that was used to set the record was a 2016 Dodge Viper ACR with the big aero package, which produces over 1700 pounds of downforce. The aero parts include carbon fiber wing, carbon fiber diffuser, and detachable front splitter extension.
Out of 13 records the Dodge Viper set, 11 of them were set by Chris Winkler, an SRT engineer behind the wheel. One of the records set at Laguna Seca, the Viper beat the Porsche 918 Spyder by more than a whole second, a 11 car length lead.
With good news such as this, comes bad news - The Viper and the Viper ACR will be discontinued from 2017. Until then, let's all give a big appreciation for what the Viper has achieved.
