Singapore also joined in on celebrating the Diwali, as its famous Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) launches its first Diwali-themed train. The train is decked with vibrant Indian illustrations such as rangolis, festoons, diyas and the works.
Land Transport Authority (LTA) has posted nine images of this Diwali-themed train on their Facebook page. The MRT launched this train on October 15.
The coaches of the train feature elegant elements such as detailed Indian jewellery, peacock and the lotus - some traditional symbols which we regard as good luck.
All these festoons, rangolis, etc. are inspired by an akin style of festivity displayed in Singapore's Little India area, which has a dense Indian population.
The highly decorated special train was launched by Singapore's Minister for Transport, Khaw Boon Wan. Passengers can travel in this train till mid-November on the North East Line (NEL).
The decorations for Diwali isn't just restricted to the train. Both the North East Line and Downtown Line platforms at Little India Station have decorated with Diwali theme.
