Did The Delhi Police Force Just Get An Aston Martin Rapide?
Images of an Aston Martin Rapide with Delhi Police vinyls surfaced online, but the car was made to look that way only for a movie
Petrolheads from all over the world envy some drivers in the Dubai Police force. The reason is that they drive exotic cars from the supercar fleet of the Dubai Police. A fleet which has cars such as the Aston Martin One-77, Nissan GT-R, Lamborghini Aventador, etc.
Would the Indian Police forces ever own any such car? Well, most would say no, and they are right. Conditions in the country would not allow our police forces to have one right now. However, the online community in India, especially in Delhi recently believed our Police force did own one.
Images of an Aston Martin Rapide surfaced online sporting Red and Blue vinyl exactly like that of the Delhi Police vehicles, complete with the Delhi Police logo and the quintessential Indian Police signage - ‘Dial 100'. This quite obviously got us car enthusiasts excited and also concerned for the survival of the car in the hands of our Police personnel.
However, it has now emerged that the Rapide is not intended to be used by the Delhi Police, but was made to like that for an upcoming movie named ‘Drive'. The Movie will be starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandes and is set to release in November this year.
The Film's producer, Karan Johar had announced the film in March this year with a picture of the stars and a Lamborghini Murcielago in the backdrop. He also confirmed that this would be the first instalment of a new movie series.
The pictures of the Aston Martin Rapide also has a Bentley Continental and a Mercedes-Benz C-class in the background. With such cars and Karan Johar's announcement, it is safe to assume we would see a high-action, fast driving packed movie series in the coming years.
This brings us back to the Aston Martin Rapide and the fact that the Delhi Police has nothing to do with it. The Rapide's number plates bear the Big Boyz Toyz logo, signifying that they own the car.
The Rapide was previously black in colour but has now been wrapped in white just for the movie. It is powered by a 5.9-litre V12 engine with a maximum power output of 470bhp and maximum torque output of 600Nm.
