Local Motors has come up with two very clever bicycle designs that is very modern but has that vintage DNA well rooted.
Be it that one is only commuting to work or a weekend leisure ride, this vintage looking bicycle packs so much modern technology that it almost bridges the gap between ages.
So if any one was wondering what we meant by technology-the bicycle is not a mere pedal powered commuter. Buyers have a choice between either a battery operated one or one with an internal combustion engine!
So what's the deal with these Cruiser Motorized Bicycle? Here it is:
The zero-emissions Electric Cruiser can travel 20 plus miles on a single, fully-charged battery set or upto 40 plus miles with an additional battery.
The battery powered bicycle features a brushless DC 500W, 36V rear wheel drive hub motor that also has regenerative braking. In the current setup, it cost less than $0.01 per mile to operate.
The one that comes with an internal combustion engine is powered by a Honda GXH50, 49cc, four-stroke, air-cooled power house.
This motor produces 2.0 lb-ft torque at 450 rpm and can travel up to 70 miles on just one tank of gas. It returns a fuel economy of approximately 150/mpg.
With a max speed of 34 miles per hour, the gas-powered Cruiser has the feel of a good old board track racer. It also has a custom made stainless exhaust.
The frame and exhaust are up of high quality hand welded 4130 Chromoly. Other features include genuine handcrafted leather accents and strap reinforcements, high-quality Brooks B17 saddle with black rails, a classic quad-coil springer front-end.
The Cruiser is available in two sizes—medium and large. Medium is suitable for people shorter than 5'7" and the Large size is suitable for those who are taller than 5'7".
