Delhi: Class 12 Student Runs Car Over Four People
The class 12 student is believed to have been driving a Hyundai i20 and has been apprehended by police.
A class 12 student, who turned 18 five days ago, allegedly ran over four people sleeping on the footpath after he lost control of an overspeeding Hyundai i20.
The incident occurred in North Delhi's Kashmere Gate area. The police have apprehended the student. At least one person is believed to have been killed in the accident.
The accident happened around 5.45am Thursday morning, and it is not known if the driver was drunk at the time. DCP North, Jatin Narwal said that the driver insists he has turned 18; however, the police yet to verify documents to determine his age.
The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where one of them died of injuries, while the remaining three are said to be in critical condition.
Jatin Narwal stated that they are identifying the victims. Also, the accused along with his two friends, appearing in some exam, were heading to meet their friends. Post the incident, two managed to escape from the accident spot while police have apprehended the driver.
