CES 2016: Parrot's Disco Fixed Wing Drone Is A Stealthy Speed Demon

By Dennis

Parrot unveiled its latest drone — The Parrot Disco — at CES 2016. The disco is a fixed winged drone that has a top speed of 80km/h and can land autonomously. The Disco is expected to be available for purchase later this year.

The Parrot Disco's body is made from EPP foam and is built off a plastic frame. It weighs in at about 700 grams and has a top speed of 80km/h(50mph) which means that owners of the drone in the United States will have to register it with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) if they want to fly it. The wings and the propeller can be detached to help make transporting the drone around a lot easier.

The Disco features a 14 Megapixel camera with a fish-eye lens that is located on the nose of the drone which can be used for live streaming. The Disco can be controlled using Parrot's Sky Controller and the drone has a maximum range of two kilometers and can be flown for 45 minutes on a single charge.
