Caterham 7 620R vs KTM 1290 Super Duke R In The Rain

By Ganesh

Usually when a bike gets tested against a car, it is usually with a supercar that costs several thousands of dollars. In this case it is different. AutoExpress recently brought together a KTM 1290 Super Duke R and a Caterham 7.

To be specific, the Caterham 7 620R is the fastest car the British automaker has ever produced. Unlike regular supercars, this is a car that cost just £49,995 (~ INR 50 lakh), which is a lot closer to the £13,999 (~INR 14 lakh) price tag of the flagship KTM Duke than most supercars are in these cases.

Furthermore, the Caterham is also a lot lighter than any supercar, tipping the scales at just 500 kg. This makes it a close match for a bike that weighs 189 kg.

The two extreme machines met at the Blyton Park circuit on a rainy day to a showdown. To make things interesting, the competition was not a head-to-head drag race, but a timed lap, with some twists.

KTM 1290 Super Duke R - 1,301cc V-twin developing 180bhp at 8870 rpm and 143 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. 0-200 km/h in 7.2 seconds.

Caterham 7 620R - 2.0-litre Duratec engine with a supercharger producing 310 bhp and 296 Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in 3.79 seconds
