British Queen's favourite Jaguar supplier has confirmed that it will hand back its two Royal warrants and close by the end of the year. A Royal Warrant of Appointment is a mark of recognition for those who have supplied goods or services to the house of the Royal family.
R A Creamer & Sons have revealed through a message that 2016 will ‘mark the end of a great story' as its 90-year history comes to an end. The dealerships had been supplying and repairing cars for the Queen, the Queen Mother and Prince Charles for nearly 40 years.
The grandson of Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons, Dealer Principal Michael Quinn made the announcement on December 9, 2016.
He said that in his last correspondence in January 2016, he stated that their business was unlikely to continue to operate beyond the end of 2016 and could be well earlier than that.
Mr. Quinn further added that this is due in no small part of changes in their business that they have been forced to face which has challenged them in a way that they feel that they cannot sustain the current business model or rationalise the level of investment required.
Jaguar Land Rover Ltd. had asked its dealerships in 2014 to double the volume of business by the end of 2015. R A Creamer & Sons dealership is Britain's oldest Jaguar dealership is expected to finalise the sale amounting to tens of millions from its 10 properties in the coming weeks.
Mr Quinn said that late Syd Creamer had made sure the 14-member staff would be taken care of in case the garage closed. He added that Syd Creamer and his wife Joan have left a wonderful legacy that will see that their loyal employees will benefit from the disposal of the business.
Mr Quinn said that it has been hard to hand back the Royal warrants but they are proud to have associated with the Royal family and that will never be taken away from them.
R A Creamer & Sons was founded back in 1927 by Roland Albert Creamer selling Jaguars and Daimlers. The dealership was the sole supplier of cars to the Queen and even adopting her Jaguar to make environmentally-friendly. They also supplied cars to Queen Mother and Prince Charles.
