Biker Dies After Stray Dogs Chase Him - Blame The Dogs Or Safety Sense?
Suresh, a 45 year old pharmacist was on his way back home around midnight when almost half a dozen stray dogs chased him. Suresh accelerated to get away from them but lost control of his motorcycle, crashed, and died.
The incident took place in Banaswadi, Bangalore when Suresh was on his way back home after closing his shop. There are possibilities that the roads were wet, since Bangalore has been receiving rainfall.
Now, one may think that the civic authorities need to take a step towards controlling the stray dog population in the city. There have been many such incidents and the authorities have barely twitched a muscle to do anything about it.
There is also another perspective to it. Suresh was not wearing a helmet. He sustained head injuries, and was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. We are not picking a side, but if Suresh had a helmet on, he could've survived.
Not wearing a helmet while riding a two-wheeler is something very dangerous and for this, no authorities can be blamed. The rider is solely responsible for this. Various steps taken by authorities to promote road safety has been ignored for a while now and the only reason bikers wear a helmet is to avoid paying a fine.
It is time to rethink and wear a helmet, every time you even think of riding a two-wheeler.
