Airbus Helicopters Sign Deal With Mahindra To Make Parts For Helicopters

Airbus Helicopters has signed a deal with Mahindra to make parts for the AS565 Mbe Panther Helicopter. The news was revealed by a joint press statement.

Mahindra will make airframe parts for the French company in its facility in Bangalore and ship it to Airbus' facility in France. The shipped parts will then be integrated into the rest of the helicopter's airframe. The parts Mahindra is manufacturing is a crucial part of the Panthers sold globally.

The new deal makes Mahindra Aerostructures the only and first Indian company to receive a direct manufacturing contract from Airbus Helicopters as a Tier 1 supplier.

Airbus Helicopters and Mahindra will also form a Joint Venture (JV) to help with the Indian helicopter programs like the Naval Utility Helicopter, the Naval Multi-Role Helicopter and the Reconnaissance and Surveillance Helicopter.

The Airbus AS565 Mbe Panther is competing in the Naval Utility Helicopter program in India. If India chooses the Panther, Airbus will chose India as its global hub to manufacture the Panther in partnership with Mahindra Defence.
