The Ultimate Sleeper Car: 1152hp VW Golf Mk 1 - Video
The Mk 1 Volkswagen Golf GTi kicked off the hot hatch revolution in Europe.
German tuner Boba Motoring must have been inspired by that fact, as they dropped a 2.0-litre engine under the hood of Mk 1 Golf and for a bit of extra power added a massive Garrett turbocharger that runs at 56psi (3.7 bar) of boost. The result 1152hp (1136bhp) and 1,072 Nm of torque. This power is sent through a six-speed sequencial transmission to all four wheels.
With just 1,080kg (excluding the driver) to lug around this manic Golf reaches 100km/h in just 2.6 seconds. The sprint from 100km/h to 200km/h takes just 3.28 seconds.
This Golf can easily eat quite a few supercars for lunch. If you do see it on an autobahn near you, do stay away or be ready to be embarrassed.
