Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) the Indian subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Honda Motors reported that its June sales fell 24.81 per cent to 3,455 units. HSCI had sold 4,595 vehicles in the corresponding month last year.

Honda Motors' global operations took a huge hit after the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. HSCI was forced to reduce production in India due to the non availability of parts from Japan. Honda is slowly recovering from the crisis but the results are yet to become visible.

HSCI Senior Vice President (Sales and Marketing) Jnaneswar Sen said: "We have been working with production constraints for the last few months. However, recovery efforts are going on to increasingly meet the demand which has helped us improve our sales in June 2011."

Sales of the Honda City, HSCI's largest selling car, has started to increase. Honda said the City's sales had jumped 53 per cent from the previous month. Here is a model wise break up of Honda's sales in June, Honda City 2,802 units, Jazz – 367, Civic- 175, Accord – 103 and CR-V-14 units.
