Volkswagen Organizes Fitness Camp In Bangalore For The Vento Cup Drivers
Volkswagen Motorsport India along with British Nutritions organised the fitness camp and pre-season test for the drivers before the start of Vento Cup 2016 season.
The Round 1 of Vento Cup 2016 is set to kick off this weekend i.e. 18th and 19th June 2016 at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore.
The 2016 season of Volkswagen Vento Cup will be the beginning of a three-year long partnership with Madras Motor Sports Club(MMSC) and MRF Tires. With the new partnership, the one-make series from Volkswagen Motorsport India will become a part of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship.
The fitness camp took place in Bangalore where the Vento Cup 2016 drivers test their endurance before stepping into their race machines. Similar to the last two seasons, this year's fitness camp was organised in association with the fitness partner British Nutrition.
The primary objective of the fitness camp was focussed on improving the drivers' physical and psychological fitness. The camp was primarily organised to educate the drivers about the benefits of staying physically fit and focused, before, during and after the race.
Hatim Shabbir from Chennai won the 'Fittest Driver' of the camp award. This year Volkswagen will invite some of the youngest drivers from Micromax Championship to be a part of the fitness camp, and educated them about the commitment required in terms of fitness.
Theory sessions were also conducted briefing the drivers about the driving lines, braking points, flag signals, overtakes, etc. A couple of Safety Car simulations were also done during the pre-season test.
The 2016 season of Volkswagen Vento Cup will include a total of four rounds across three race tracks in India - Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore; Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai and Buddh International Circuit, Greater Noida.
