SsangYong X100 Compact SUV Launch In 2015, Mahindra Version To Follow
SsangYong X100 is the new compact SUV coming from the Mahindra-owned South Korean automaker. The brand new model, which has been previewed by the XLV Concept at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show, will make its debut in January next year if things go according to schedule.
While the X100 will be a five-seater, there will also be a seven-seater version that will come later in the year.

Built on an all-new platform, the new SsangYong X100 will be placed below the Korando C. More significantly, Mahindra will also launch an SUV model based on the X100. Known only by its codename S102, the exact launch time frame of this SUV is not known yet.
SsangYong XLV concept, which has a unique seating configuration of 2+2+2+1 (the seventh seat is free to move about the center of the car between the second and third row) measures 4,430 mm long, 1,845 mm wide, 1,600 mm tall, with a 2,600 mm wheelbase.

The concept is powered by a 48V hybrid system that consists of a 1.6-litre diesel engine coupled to a 10 kW electric motor that draws power from a 500 Wh lithium ion battery. SsangYong says, the emission level is 10 percent lower than competitors.
An electronically-adjustable, double-layer glass roof that lets you control the amount of ambient light in the cabin, adaptive front LED lighting system and a smart, interactive communication system called 3S-Cube are few of the notable features that were previewed on the XLV Concept.
As for the Mahindra SUV based on the X100, it could well turn out to be the next-generation Scorpio.
