In 2014, there were several manufacturers that issued recall of vehicles due to faulty parts. Honda, Ford, Toyota, almost all of them at some point called back vehicles for either minor or major faults. Now Renault India is ordering a recall of certain vehicles.
The French manufacturer reveals their vehicles could have a faulty airbag. This issue is safety related and Renault does not want to take a chance with customer safety and will recall 646 vehicles. The issue pertain to their Pulse and Scala diesel models, which were built during September, 2011 to July, 2012.
The faulty airbag issue will be rectified by Renault India for free. These airbags were manufactured by Takata in Japan, which has been a name synonymous with airbag recalls in 2014. The French manufacturer will be checking other vehicles as well for issues that could require rectification.
Renault and Nissan are in partnership and rebadge their vehicles. The Japanese manufacturer sells the Pulse and Scala as the Micra and Sunny. We wonder whether the similar problem could be present in their models as well, since these vehicles share most components.
It is voluntary recall announced by Renault India and they will be contacting owners personally. They will inspect the issue and if needed will replace the faulty component on the Scala and Pulse. We will have to wait and see if other models too are affected by a similar issue.
