2014 Volkswagen Polo India Launch In July
The facelifted 2014 Volkswagen Polo made its global debut in March this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Its entry into India was expected to happen sometime during the middle of the year and that time is fast approaching.
Reports are out now, claiming that the new Polo premium hatchback will break cover in India sometime in July. Though the visual changes are not drastic, the new Polo is something is to be excited about for aspiring Polo buyers.
For India, the most important change in the new Polo will come in the form of new engines. First, the existing 1.6-litre diesel engine will be replaced by the 4-cylinder 1.5-litre diesel, in the Polo GT TDI variant.
Despite the smaller displacement there will be no drop in power and the engine is expected to continuing delivering 105 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque.
Second, a new 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine will be brought into the lineup. Both engines will continue to be offered with the very quick dual clutch 7-speed DSG transmission.
The use of a 1.5-litre engine will also mean that VW will save on excise duty, which will hopefully reflect in the form of a price drop.
Less important changes will come in the form of a slightly revised front end, which makes the car look more mature. Changes to the interior are minimal and less noticeable. Excited much?
