2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class Sedan & Wagon, & CLS63 AMG Revealed
Mercedes-Benz has given its second generation CLS-Class a mid-life facelift, along with a dose of technological updates, new transmission, updated engines and brand new headlamps it calls, LED Multibeam headlamps.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class has been revealed in four-door coupe, shooting brake and high performance CLS63 AMG forms. Visually, changes to the new CLS-Class are minimal, but the feature updates still make the 2015 model facelift a significant one.

To start with, the new CLS-Class gets a fresh bumper design with more aggressive air-intakes, along with a new grille design. The headlamps are brand new as well, but more on that later. Other than these, you will be hard pressed to find any other changes compared to the previous model.
Also making its debut is the company's new 9-speed 9G TRONIC automatic transmission, which is available on all variants, except AMG version.
More than the exterior, it is interior which has received most of the updates, which now comes in five new colours and six new trim finishes. Existing CLS owners will also miss a new three spoke steering wheel.
The most significant change in the cabin is the updated 8-inch infotainment display with the COMAND interface. It now offers COMAND Online internet connectivity and app ecosystem. COMAND Online also provides the LINGUATRONIC voice control system.
Coming to the engine lineup being provided with the 2015 CLS-Class. There's the new CLS 220 BlueTEC, rated at 168 horsepower (HP) and 400 Nm of torque; CLS 250 BlueTec with 201 HP and 500 Nm (also offered with 4MATIC all-wheel drive); CLS 400 twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 delivering 329 HP and 480 Nm; and the AMG two variants powered by the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 577 HP or 585 HP, offered only with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive and perhaps the 7-speed automatic as well.
The new Mercedes-Benz Multibeam LED headlamps constitutes four fast responding high-resolution precision LED light modules, with a total of 24 individual LED units.
These modules are independently controlled and automatically respond to inputs from a camera mounted behind the windscreen, which continuously monitors things in front of the car and adjusts the LED lights.
"With MULTIBEAM LED technology the headlamps now are able to react even more quickly, more precisely and individually to changing traffic conditions. On top of this, there are expanded functions of which a driver will become directly aware, such as anticipatory camera-based curve recognition with the active light function."
The 2015 Mercedes CLS-Class range will be launched in the second half of this year. Expect it to make its India debut in 2015, except for the shooting brake version seen here.
