2014 Hyundai Solaris (Verna) Launched In Russia
The India bound next-gen Hyundai Verna has been launched in Russia where the sedan is sold under the Solaris nameplate.
The 2014 Hyundai Solaris facelift brings with it elements of the automaker's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, which it has already previewed in the new Genesis and the new Sonata.
Most of the changes brought in with the facelift appear at the front of the car, which looks significantly different and gives the car a more sophisticated look. The new Solaris gets a redesigned headlamp, a restyled fog lamp with daytime running lights, new, wider, but narrower lower bumper and a new grille design with twin chrome horizontal slats in place of the single one.
The front fascia has also received new character lines around the headlamps, which contribute to the new look of the car. Changes towards the rear are more subtle and harder to place. These include, brake lamp with LED lights and a redesigned reflector on the lower bumper and a new.
The interior of the new Solaris remains unchanged.
The new Hyundai Solaris remains mechanically unchanged. The 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines, which also do duty in the Verna, continue to power the car. But unlike in India, the Solaris 1.6-litre petrol variant gets 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
The 2014 Hyundai Solaris has a starting price of 473,900 Rubles in Russia, which is slightly more than INR 8 lakhs. Roughly the same starting price at which the Verna is sold here.
Hyundai Verna, which until last year was the best selling full sized entry level sedan in India, has been overtaken by the hugely popular new Honda City. A facelifted Verna will certainly help Hyundai's cause, so expect it to arrive here towards the end of this year or early next year.
