Maruti Suzuki Could Bring The Wagon R 7-Seater To India
Maruti Suzuki has launched several interesting products in India in 2014. They have introduced their Celerio, Ciaz and new Alto K10 for domestic market. The Japanese manufacturer is trying to launch more products that will attract more buyers to their brand.
The manufacturer had some time ago launched its Stingray hatchback, which was based on their popular Wagon R model. Over the years Maruti Suzuki has added minor facelifts to their hatchback.
Suzuki had their 7-seater Wagon R at 2013 Indonesia Motor Show. It is still in the development phase and is expected to be launched by 2017. It will sit beside their Ertiga model, in the MPV segment. The Japanese manufacturer plans to launch new products in every segment.
Maruti Suzuki is aiming to make their Wagon R 7-seater a sub 4-metre vehicle. This will save the MPV, major excise duties in India, thus enabling more competitive prices by the manufacturer. It will borrow several design elements from the concept shown in Indonesia.
We believe Maruti Suzuki could provide their 7-seater Wagon R with similar engines that power the Ertiga. In 2017 the manufacturer will provide both petrol and diesel mill to its Wagon R MPV. The hatchback currently comes without an optional diesel mill.
Once launched Maruti Suzuki's Wagon R MPV will compete against Mahindra's Quanto. It will also face competition from Datsun's soon to be launched Go+ MPV in India. The Japanese manufacturer plans to manufacture the Wagon R 7-seater in India and will export it to neighbouring countries.
