Maruti DZire Recall Extends To Swift & Ertiga
The faulty fuel cap problem found in the DZire compact sedan has also been discovered in the Swift hatchback and Ertiga MPV, and as such, the recall, earlier limited to the sedan, will extend to include the other two vehicles.
Reports came out a couple of days back that a certain batch of the DZire had ill fitting fuel caps which could result in fuel evaporating and possibly spilling out when filled to the brim.
Maruti has explained that the problem occurred due to a fault in a previously repaired machine belonging to their supplier of fuel filler necks. This resulted in unsuitable threads and thus a loose filler cap.
A total of 1,03,311 vehicles have defective fuel filler caps of which 47,237 units are petrol and diesel variants of the Swift and 42,481 DZire units. 13,593 petrol, diesel and CNG versions of the Ertiga are also part of the recall.
The affected vehicles were manufactured between November 12, 2013 and February 4, 2014. So, if your vehicle falls under this date then you should be contacted by Maruti Suzuki soon.
Recalls will begin from April 15, 2014.
