Jeep Could Build SUV Larger Than Grand Cherokee; Hybrid SUV Possible

Changing economy, increasing fuel prices and other factors have forced almost every manufacturer to go small. And that's something even iconic American SUV manufacturer Jeep could not stay away from, resulting in Jeep Renegade, the crossover sized compact SUV.

But for those who did not appreciate Jeep's move of launching a small SUV there's good news. The SUV maker's next move is said to be a large model. In fact, this model will be larger than even their largest, the Grand Cherokee.

Jeep is likely to bring back the Grand Wagoneer name for the said flagship SUV. However, Jeep CEO Mike Manley is said to have stated at the Geneva Motor Show that the new SUV would not leave the American shore.

Also on the to-do list of Jeep is yet another small model and this one would be an A-segment SUV smaller than even the new Renegade. Such a small SUV, however, would be built only if it can be made sufficiently off-road worthy.

Other than exploring gas guzzling SUVs on both extremes, Manley is also said to have revealed the company's plans to start working on electric and/or hybrid Jeeps. Interest for electric and hybrid Jeep is said to be increasing and if demand becomes strong enough to make a business case the company would definitely start work on green Jeeps, reports Autocar.
