What can be termed as one of the most major announcement made by Jaguar Land Rover, the British automaker will be setting up a special operations division.

Much like performance divisions of other manufacturer, JLR's Special Operations Division will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

Making high-performance versions of their regular cars
Developing special models and one-offs like the F-type Project 7
Developing prototypes like the C-X75
Developing special branded products to engage with a wider customer base and
Last but not the least, handling heritage models.

The new Special Operations Division will be based out of West Midlands, with 150 personnel working out of the technical center.

Detailing the division's responsibilities further, it will also be tasked with providing customers with extensive personalization options, both visual and mechanical. The division will also carry out restoration and servicing work on heritage vehicles and supply parts for JLR's classic models.

The recently announced recreation of the remaining original E-types will be one of the division's first major project.
