Jaguar Land Rover Conferred Queen’s Award 2014

By Ganesh

Jaguar Land Rover, part of India's Tata Motors, has received the prestigious Queen's Award this year. The recognition was awarded to the automaker for Enterprise in International Trade, for "outstanding overseas sales growth over the last three years". The award was conferred on Her Majesty The Queen's birthday.

This is the first time Jaguar Land Rover as a single company has won the Queen's Awarded, considered to be one of the most important recognitions conferred by the British government to businesses. The two individual brands have won it six times between 1967 and 2008.

Jaguar Land Rover was recognised for its sustained sales success driven by global exports to over 170 countries in the last three years.

Jaguar Land Rover's exports account for 80 percent of all vehicles produced in its three manufacturing plants in the U.K. The company sold 425,006 vehicles in 2013, a growth of 19 percent over the previous year.

The highest business has come from its traditional markets of Mainland Europe and North America, along with China, accounting for 60 percent of all export sales. At the same time, sales share outside its strongholds of UK, US and Europe has also improved to more than 40 percent of the total, which was just under 15 percent in 2008.

Perhaps the best account of Jaguar Land Rover's success comes from the fact that it has received over 200 international awards during 2013.

Dr. Ralf Speth, Jaguar Land Rover CEO, said of the Queen's Award, "We are delighted and honored to receive this recognition of Jaguar Land Rover's contribution to British enterprise. Our success is thanks to our dedicated and passionate employees who create exciting vehicles that are in high demand with customers around the world."

"The more that we build our business, the more opportunity we can create to improve the lives of many families, by recruiting and training more people, investing in facilities and communities, and strengthening the overall growth of the UK economy. This Queen's Award is the perfect complement to us being named Responsible Business of the Year 2013, in recognizing our success internationally as well as the many positive ways we contribute to society."

Jaguar Land Rover vehicles are all engineered and designed in Britain, with two research and development centers, in addition to its three production facilities. The company now employs almost 28,000 people directly in the UK, rising to almost 30,000 globally, with a further 190,000 UK jobs supported in dealerships, suppliers and local businesses.
