Isuzu D-Max & D-Max Space Cab Launched; Price Starts At INR 5.99L

Isuzu, the Japanese SUV and pick-up truck manufacturer has launched its second product in India, the D-Max pick-up, at a starting price of INR 5.99 lakhs.

Launched today in Mumbai, where the company also has its first dealership, the D-Max comes in three variants - single-cab flat deck, space cab flat deck and space cab Arched deck.

The base variant D-max is a regular pick-up truck with a flatbed measuring 2415 X 1705 X 450 (mm) and a payload of 1.2 tons. The space cab flat deck adds an extra 1.5 feet of space behind the seats and otherwise remains the same.

The space cab Arched deck, however, is a premium pick-up targeted at customers who would drive their own vehicle. The primary difference is the cargo deck which, instead of being flat, has humps due to the wheel arches protruding into the space.

This reduces cargo area (1920mm X 1720mm X 480mm), but renders the vehicle more stylish and sleek.

The D-max space cab Arched deck also offers a wide range of premium features, not typically found in your regular pick-up trucks.

Day-night rear view mirror, remote fuel lid opener, body coloured bumpers, chrome finish radiator grille, engine tachometer, front seat slide & recline, green tinted glass, power windows and more.

Isuzu D-Max pick-up: engine

Power comes from the 2.5-litre 4 cylinder, common rail, turbocharged intercooled diesel engine that produces 136 horsepower at 3600 rpm and 294 Nm torque between 1800-3200 rpm.

Isuzu claims its D-max pick-up trucks can deliver a range of 1,000 km on a single full tank, which holds 76-litres of fuel, which converts to 13.15 kpl.

While currently Isuzu uses HM's facility in Chennai to assemble its products, it will begin local production at its new facility, coming up in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, from 2016.

Following the inauguration of its first showroom in Mumbai, the company next plans to open new outlets in Delhi and Vishakapatnam by the end of this month.
