Ford India To Name Its Compact Sedan ‘Figo Aspire'

Ford had showcased it upcoming compact sedan concept at the recent Auto Expo in Delhi. It is a highly anticipated product in several markets. In Brazil the American automobile manufacturer has already launched it as the Ka hatchback and Ka+ compact sedan.

The American manufacturer has planned to launch next-generation Figo in India during 2015, along with the Figo compact sedan. Now the main question is what would Ford call it first compact sedan in India. They have opted to name its offering as the ‘Figo Aspire'.

Both the hatchback and compact sedan will be manufactured in only two countries Brazil and India. Just as the EcoSport, Ford will use India as their manufacturing hub for both their new products. They have high expectation from both developing countries to boost their sales.

Ford plans to introduce several new products in India. These include an all-new Endeavour SUV, next-gen Figo hatchback and Figo Aspire compact sedan. The compact sedan is one of the fastest growing segments currently in India.

The American automobile giant is most likely to continue with the same engine that it offers in its hatchback. Both the next-gen Figo and Figo Aspire compact sedan will have similar powertrains, they will be different in the feature list and will get safety equipment as standard.

Once launched in India Ford's Figo Aspire will have to compete with several other vehicles. The current leader in this segment in Maruti Suzuki and its Swift Dzire. It will also have to fend off competition from Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze and Tata Motors Zest compact sedan.
